What we count, and why
To learn which posts are useful and whether our buttons are clear, this site counts visits in a privacy-friendly way. It uses no cookies and nothing is stored on your device.
- Which pages are viewed, how far down people read and for how long
- Where a visit came from: a search engine, another website or a link with a campaign tag, and the search words when the search engine passes them on
- Clicks on the Book Now, Check availability and chat buttons and on the partner page's phone number and address, and the answer (yes, no or none) to the chat's question about being in the UK
- Broad technical details: phone, tablet or computer, browser language and time zone
To tell one visit from the next without cookies, your IP address and browser details are combined with a random key and scrambled into a code. The key is replaced every day at midnight, so the code can't be turned back into your IP address and can't follow you from one day to the next. IP addresses themselves are never saved.
Each visit's path through the site is kept for 90 days to understand where people get stuck; daily totals are kept longer. We use the numbers only to improve this website. We don't sell them or share them with advertisers.
Switch statistics off
Statistics are on for this browser.
This setting is saved in your browser. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we don't count your visits at all.
Live chat
If you use the chat, your messages and the replies are saved so we can answer you and keep a record of the conversation. Before the chat starts we ask whether you are in the UK, because the chat is only offered to people in the UK. Nobody answers between 1:00am and 7:00am UK time. Please don't share health details in the chat that you would rather discuss in person. Chat records are deleted after 365 days.
Booking
Booking happens on our partner's booking page (Square Appointments or Cal.com), which has its own privacy notice. We receive booking times so we can count bookings; we don't receive card details.
Your rights and contact
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Ask us through the chat on our partner page. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
